Ingredients:
-6-8 slices of a french baguette, sliced on the bias
-3 tbsp butter
-½ cup all natural maple syrup
-Salt
-1 pkg of boursin flavored cheese
Directions:
1. Melt the butter and syrup in a heavy duty saute pan on medium heat
2. Sprinkle with salt and bring to a soft slow boil
3. Reduce heat and keep on low
4. Add the sliced baguette to the pan and coat bread, flipping several times immediately so both sides are coated with the syrup
5. Keep on the lowest heat and continue cooking until syrup starts to caramelize and harden
6. Remove toast let cool
7. Once cooled, you may top the toast with your favorite cheese
Notes:
It is important to really watch the toasts while they are in the plan. They must be flipped often.
To cool, I would place the toasts on a sprayed piece of foil. DO NOT put it in a container or cover it in any way. You will lose the crispy-ness of the syrup and it will change the bread completely.
I prefer to put boursin garlic and herb cheese on these but it also tastes great with brie or a creamy blue cheese.
